Often overlooked by many fitness professionals, HIT is alternating intervals of moderate intensity with periods of maximum effort so that you’ll burn far more calories and lose far more fat…And in half the time. So you’re working constantly hard for 50 mins, and then you’re done. It’s our HIT and RUN rule that is the key to fast track fat loss and THE secret behind our many successes in the past. Here’s what the scientific studies say: For years, we’d been told that low-intensity exercise was the best method for ridding body fat. The reason this low-effort theory of aerobic exercise came about was a study that showed low-intensity training (LIT) could burn a greater percentage of calories from fat as appose to carbohydrates. However when high-intensity training (HIT) was practised, the research stated that the percentage of fuel from carbohydrates was increased, while the amount of fat utilised was greater to that burned during low-intensity training. HIT was also shown to burn fat up to 50% more efficiently. The bottom line is HIT burns a greater number of total calories than low-intensity training, and more calories burned equal more fat lost. And not only this, but the majority of calories you burn will come AFTER…that’s right AFTER your workout and is often referred to as ‘The Afterburn Effect’ by top sports coaches. This is a process whereby your metabolism will stay revved up long after you’ve finished a High-Octane Class, meaning you’ll be burning body fat all day long – even without aerobics!
