TestimonialsBefore I started training with Evolution, I wasn’t in the best shape of my life, and that’s going easy! I work in the city and never seemed to have time for exercise and to be perfectly honest, just wasn’t very high on my priority list. Over the past few years, I had started to see those extra pounds creep on that I hadn’t noticed before, I always seemed to feel low on energy, especially when I was at work, and I had developed a dull ache in the small of my back which wasn’t there when I was younger… I put it down to age. I knew that I had to start a proper fitness programme but I didn’t know the first place to start. I was the type of guy that got easily distracted when it came to exercise. I tried a few health clubs in the city but I used them sporadically and to be honest, didn’t like the intimidating atmosphere. It was by chance that I found out about Evolution Fitness & Nutrition. My friend who I occasionally play squash with told me about this personal training company that he was using. I hadn’t seen him in a while and the change in him was quite unbelievable! He told me that he had lost 2 stone in weight and 3 inches from his waist during his time with Evolution. And not only that, he seemed to be far more agile than usual during our squash game-which I wasn’t pleased about! When I phoned up Evolution, there was no hard sell, I got all the information I wanted and we arranged a consultation at my house! Since 2004, I have gone from 14st 3lbs to 12st 8lbs. Just like my squash mate, I actually feel like a different person. I have more energy, feel fitter and the dull ache in my back seems to have disappeared. Sam’s enthusiasm and confidence in me has completely changed my outlook on exercise, my barriers towards exercise that I had before I met Sam have disappeared completely and I actually look forward to working out now. Without running the risk of sounding too cheesy, Evolution quite literally has changed my life for the better…although I still have trouble beating my mate at Squash!!! Can’t have it all I guess. ________________________________________________________________
Dieting never seemed to work for me. I had tried everything, Atkins, Zone Diet….even my local slimming club, but I just wasn’t losing any weight. I was starting to think I had something wrong with me, so, after months of ‘toying’ with the idea, I decided to hire a personal trainer and having spoken to a number of trainers in my area, I went with Evolution. They reassured me that it WAS possible to lose the weight that I wanted to and to be honest, was the best decision I ever made. Since 2005 I’ve lost 15kgs with Evolution, I now know more about why ‘fad diets’ are a complete waste of time. As well as going down 2 dress sizes, I also feel fitter & more vibrant than ever. My body feels so much more flexible and I am hoping to run my first 10 mile charity race very soon. This is from someone who couldn’t stand running before I hired Evolution and vowed never to do it as long as I lived!! Not only that, but my friends & family have been impressed with the changes I’ve made to my physique, and I feel so much better in myself… Thanks Evolution. I had always enjoyed exercising and never had a problem with ‘putting myself through it’, however I had recently become quite despondent due to a lack of results & realised I needed a push in the right direction. I was very sceptical after my experience with ‘my instructor’, and this in turn, was making me want to go at it alone. ‘I don’t need a trainer’ I used to tell myself ‘I can do it myself, I don‘t need any help.’ Looking back, I think I was in denial. Sure, I worked out frequently at my health club, only problem was, I wasn’t seeing a change in my body shape. And, out of principle, didn’t want help from an instructor that couldn’t muster up any energy to say ‘hello’ to me. I felt frustrated, I put so much effort into my workouts but felt like I wasn’t getting anything out of them, so I decided to seek help from Sam at Evolution. Well, six weeks in and I was amazed at what I had achieved. Sam had got me eating properly (which proved to be the main reason as to why I wasn’t seeing a result) and training in ways that I would never have dreamt of. I had put on over a stone in muscle, even though I’d previously been told by my ‘health club instructor’ that this couldn’t be done due to my genetics, and my body fat levels had gone from 20% to 16%. I’ve been training with Sam for 4 years now and he’s great, and I have nothing but praise for him. Since meeting him, not only has he earnt my trust completely, but if he believes I can achieve a goal then I know that I can, and he will apply the motivation & techniques needed for this to happen. If I had known about Evolution earlier, there’s no doubt in my mind that I would have trained with them and let THEM take care of designing my fitness programme rather than ‘stabbing’ around in the dark trying to do it myself like hundreds of others in my health club I used to go to. Four years ago, at the age of 54, I finally decided that my poor fitness and high stress levels involved in my work as a GP, required me to make a major change in my lifestyle and having spent over 30 years telling others to look after themselves, I thought it was high time I finally took my own advice. From a medical point of view, I have been astounded by Sam’s expertise on injury rehab and illness. He has a huge knowledge base that would put a lot of medical practitioners to shame. His genuine belief in me and ability to motivate me when I’m not up for it (which is not very often when I train with Sam) has given me every confidence that he is at the top of his profession when it comes to fitness and I wouldn’t have any hesitation in recommending him to anyone else. When a runner becomes injured, it can be both frustrating and unpredictable. After extensive knee surgery and months of physiotherapy, I was STILL having problems with building muscle and was unable to improve on my cardiovascular fitness, enough to return to my running club. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions with Sam, each session he monitors my results so I can see the real progress I’m making, which in turn is a tremendous boost for my self-esteem and confidence. Sam has coached, taught (and often bullied!) me into believing that I CAN achieve my goals whilst developing my maximum potential. After I gave birth to my first child, I was finding it very difficult to lose all the weight I gained during pregnancy. Like a lot of new mothers, I was suffering from post natal depression to the extent where I had no ‘get up and go’ whatsoever, everything I did had become an effort and I had become unbearable to live with. My weight gain had affected me more than I thought, I really wanted to lose the weight but I just couldn’t motivate myself or find the time to exercise. My depression seemed to be getting worse, to the point where I didn’t want to be around anyone, including my concerned partner, I hated my body and I didn‘t like looking at myself in the mirror. Something needed to be done, I was in a very dark place and couldn’t seem to find a way out. With a little push from my partner I decided to go to the doctor’s to see if he could help me with my post natal depression and the weight that I had gained during my pregnancy. I was expecting to be referred to a psychiatrist or hypno-therapist but instead was given a contact at Evolution to phone. This is where I met Sam for the first time. At first, I was a little apprehensive about starting an exercise programme, I had always thought that personal training was for fit people, but, after chatting with Sam, I soon relaxed and told him about what I wanted to achieve with him. Sam took my depression problem very seriously. He didn’t ‘pretend to be my shrink,’ or make wild claims that he was ‘going to cure me,’ but instead explained to me that with the right level of commitment from me and some hard work that he COULD help me with my depression and weight gain. Sam also explained to me that by working out regularly, my mood would lift over time due to the endorphins released during exercise. He seemed very knowledgeable on this subject. He later told me that he had worked with clients before me that had suffered with post natal depression. I realised the proof of the pudding was in the eating but I was very impressed with Sam and was quietly confident that he could help me. Well, 1 year on since the pregnancy and my first consultation with Sam and I’m STILL training with him. He even holds the baby sometimes whilst I sweat over the machines! I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for Sam, I don’t know what I would have done. His ability as a trainer to teach, motivate and get results has changed me for the better and his positive attitude has actually rubbed off on ME in other areas of my life and not just fitness. My health club visits had become like a social event. My friends and I did more chatting than working. I knew I wasn’t exercising to my full potential, none of us were, yet we still carried on chatting away on the machines barely breaking a sweat. Where was the logic in that? I think a lot of my friends thought that just because they were members of a health club, this instantly made them fit. They’d forgotten about the small problem of actually putting some effort into their workouts. Even the ‘health club trainers’ seemed to be doing more chatting than exercising with their clients. I didn’t fancy training with any of them. Don’t get me wrong, I am a very sociable person, but I just felt that I wasn’t getting anything out of my health club visits. I decided that enough was enough. I had read about Evolution’s Mobile Training Service and decided to give them a call, and it proved to be just the ticket. Thank you to everyone at Evolution who have helped me achieve my weight loss goal over the past 2 years. Maria Sutcliffe ________________________________________________________________
Even at 64, I really liked the idea of personal training, but the money had always put me off. As a pensioner I wasn’t on a huge income and there always seemed to be something else that I needed to shell out for. I guess it depends on how much value you attach to your fitness goals, but I just felt as though I couldn’t justify the fees for personal training. That was until I found out about Evolution’s ‘spreading the cost’ Option. This seemed to be ideal for me. Unlike a lot of training companies that I‘d spoken to, I was given the option to spread the cost. I wasn’t locked in to a 12 month contract like most health clubs did. This allowed me to treat myself to personal training whilst keeping control of my finances. I’ve been training with Evolution for over six years now, and am their OLDEST and longest standing client they have on their books. I can definitely say that it has been a GREAT investment. Taking care of yourself is so important. My balance has improved, I feel so much more flexible and agile when I’m playing with the grandchildren and everyday tasks such as shopping, walking up stairs and gardening seem so much easier. I would definitely recommend training with Evolution for anyone else who’s around my age or might be a little apprehensive about the cost.
